There’s always been an interest in genealogy in my family, though I can’t say I took it up with much fervor. But for some reason, since my move, I’ve found myself thinking about a relative of mine who was born in Virginia in 1620.

At this time, surely her parents came from across the Atlantic. And what I’d love to know is why. Why they made this move. Were they adventurous? Capitalizing on opportunity? Running from something? They didn’t head to Massachusetts, so I’m assuming they weren’t part of that boat of crazy people England was glad to be rid of.

The possibilities are intriguing. Maybe some day I’ll try to find out.
